Bobby Jindal drops presidential bid

Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, whose 2016 campaign never really gained traction with voters, announced Tuesday evening that he is dropping his bid for the White House.

"This is not my time," Jindal said on Fox News and also in an email to supporters.

Republican primary voters are now left with just 14 candidates for the GOP nomination. In such a crowded field, Jindal rarely registered at more than 1 or 2 percent in polls. The most recent CBS News/ New York Times poll showed Jindal with less than 1 percent support.

Asked on Fox News whether he would endorse another candidate, Jindal said, "I haven't given that a lot of thought. The reality is...I don't think people care."

In an email to supporters, the governor outlined his future plans. "One of the things I will do is go back to work at the think tank I started a few years ago - where I will be outlining a blueprint for making this the American century," he wrote.
