BMW bringing self-parking to 7 Series sedans

BMW showed off some pretty nifty self-parking technology at the International Consumer Electronics Show in January. Now, it's bringing it to one of its iconic lines, the BMW 7 Series.

The next generation of the luxury sedans will offer remote control parking, enabling cars to maneuver themselves into and out of parking spaces without anyone at the wheel. This, the company says, will "allow drivers to access extremely tight parking spaces."

So, if you drive into a parking structure and spy one of those spots that you know you could technically squeeze into, but wouldn't dare, you can just hop out and use the new "Display Key" LCD screen fob to send your car into the space without you. The press of a button will back the car out when you're ready to leave.

Among a few other high-tech additions to the 7 Series is gesture control for things like answering and declining calls and turning up the stereo volume. Very digital maestro.
