Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert getting divorced
Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert are calling it quits after four years of marriage.
The country music power couple released a joint statement Monday, saying, "This is not the future we envisioned. And it is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately. We are real people, with real lives, with real families, friends and colleagues. Therefore, we kindly ask for privacy and compassion concerning this very personal matter."
TMZ reports that they've already filed divorce documents in Oklahoma, and the judge is expected to finalize things on Monday.
Shelton and Lambert were together a while before getting married. They met in 2005 and exchanged vows in May 2011 in Texas.
Lambert, 31, and Shelton, 39, have been in the tabloid headlines for months, with reports about hitting a rocky point within their marriage. Both Shelton and Lambert opened up about the tabloids and the pressures of being in a high-profile relationship in a 2014 interview with CBS News.
"We try so hard to keep people's focus on what we do and not our marriage," Shelton said when asked why they don't do interviews together. "It's almost impossible to do that...That's all we got left that's private is she and I and our home. And we just want to keep it that way."
Lambert echoes those sentiments: "People dig anyway and they make up lies. I feel like we don't really hold back because if you hold back they're going to dig anyway...The only thing private thing we have is our home. If we don't protect that then we have nothing. We have to have something that is just for us."
