Bills receiver Andre Reed enters Hall of Fame honoring his hero

Andre Reed played 15 seasons with the Buffalo Bills, the best of them catching passes from the man who watched his induction into the NFL Hall of Fame last night.

"My career didn't take off until the 'K-Gun' came around," said Reed. "The toughest individual I've ever met in my life is Jim Kelly, number 12."

Kelly traveled to Ohio in the middle of a cancer battle that has captivated football fans across the country. First diagnosed last year, Kelly's cancer came back this spring.

He just finished an intense round of chemotherapy and radiation, losing 50 pounds in the process. Through it all, his family has posted powerful pictures and videos online.

Fans and teammates have all been watching.

"How do I find the words, man, to say anything about you," said Reed. "You're the reason I'm standing here today. Your belief in me that I could get the job done will resonate with me the rest of my life.

"Every time I looked into your eyes in the huddle I knew we could get it done. I knew we had a chance to win. Those around you gravitated to your leadership and what you said. You taught us not to quit."

Reed like Kelly is also from Pennsylvania. They are two men from blue-collar towns who helped take the Bills to a record four straight Super Bowls. From the look of it this weekend, the bond has only grown stronger since they left the field.

"I wanted the ball every single time," said an emotional Reed. "I wanted you to be proud of me. You know our old saying bro: '12 plus 83 is always six.'"
