Baltimore rioter sentenced for setting CVS pharmacy on fire
BALTIMORE -- A man who pleaded guilty to setting a pharmacy on fire during the riots following Freddie Gray's death was sentenced on Tuesday, according to CBS Baltimore.
Raymon Carter was sentenced to 48 months in prison and must also pay a half-million dollars in restitution, according to the station. Carter was arrested two months after committing arson at the CVS on April 27, 2015.
The fire reportedly caused nearly $1 million in damages. However, Carter was only found guilty of rioting, not arson.
The judge and the federal prosecutors involved in the case wanted to send a strong statement for this type of crime, according to CBS Baltimore.
At the time of his June arrest, prosecutors said that Carter also fled from ATF agents and later lied about his identity when he was captured, according the station.
