Authorities: Ghost hunters discover body at old Miss. hospital

VICKSBURG, Miss. - Authorities are investigating after a group of ghost hunters found a body at an old abandoned hospital in Mississippi, reports The Vicksburg Post.

Authorities say the body was discovered Sunday at the old Kuhn Memorial State Hospital in Vicksburg.

Vicksburg Police Chief Walter Armstrong says the body appears to be that of a female in her late 60s with trauma to the head.

Armstrong says the body was sent to the state crime lab in Jackson for processing. According to the paper, the Warren County Coroner confirmed the cause of death as homicide.

Armstrong says that while they can't identify the body immediately, it does match the description of a 69-year-old Vicksburg woman missing from her house, who police were searching for.

Police say they have two men in custody who told investigators they dropped off the 69-year-old woman in Sharkey County after breaking into her house and abducting her Saturday night.

The Clarion Ledger reports the hospital where the body was found has been vacant since 1989. It has since served as the setting for a local horror film and is often frequented by ghost hunters who believe the building is haunted.
