Artist's bubble gum portrait of Taylor Swift wins national contest
ANDOVER, Mass. -- Artist Rob Surette is giving Taylor Swift fans something to chew on.
The Andover artist used 17,625 gum balls to create a large portrait of Taylor Swift, and now his masterpiece has taken first place in a national contest, reports CBS Boston.
Surette's portrait of the pop star was voted the winner in Ripley's Believe It or Not! Unbelieveable RipCycle Art Contest.
The artist won $2,000 for his pop art portrait. And the portrait now becomes part of the Ripley's collection, according to CBS Boston. It will also be featured in the next Ripley's annual book and in the "Ripley's Believe It or Not!" cartoon.
Surette says he spent an hour each day this summer crafting the work of art, one gum ball at a time. The portrait only contains the colors white, black, dark blue, light blue, green, red, pink and yellow.
Surette also posted a video of his masterpiece to his Facebook page.
