Arrests made in Houston gun store smash-and-grab caught on video
HARRIS COUNTY, Texas - Houston police and ATF agents arrested three people and recovered several firearms stolen in a brazen gun store theft that was caught on camera.
In surveillance video released Wednesday afternoon, a group of ten men can be seen using a pickup truck to rip away the doors to the Houston store, before quickly methodically smashing glass enclosures and filling up bags with guns.
The entire operation lasted less than two minutes, according to police. The suspects were in and out of the store so fast they didn't even bother to pick up guns that fell to the floor as they ran, police said.
Police say the suspects switched vehicles about a block away and sped off in a Chevy SUV.
Authorities have not yet released the suspects' names. Investigators are continuing to search for several of the other masked people seen in the video, which was recorded just after 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, at Carter's Country gun store.
An early investigation shows that the thieves got away with at least 50 weapons. Federal officials said weapons stolen in burglaries like this one likely end up on the black market, and could be used in violent crimes.
