Arrest made in shooting deaths of Calif. mom, 4-year-old daughter
LONG BEACH, Calif. — California police say a suspect is in custody in connection with the shooting deaths of a mother and her 4-year-old daughter, reports CBS Los Angeles.
Brandon Colbert, 22, was arrested Monday, just over three months after 26-year-old Carina Mancera and her daughter, Jennabel Anaya were shot to death.
The mother, daughter and the girl’s father had been grocery shopping and were walking home Aug. 6 when a man walked up and opened fire.
It happened less than a half a block from the family’s apartment. The girl’s father told investigators he did not recognize the man.
Police say Colbert was arrested after he took a bus from Tulsa, Okla. back to the Los Angeles area.
A $40,000 reward was offered in the case, but police have not said how they honed in on Colbert.
