Ark. 14-year-old charged as adult in murder of grandparents

CONWAY, Ark. - Police say a 14-year-old boy shot and killed his grandparents during a robbery and murder scheme that was planned while he and two friends were held in a juvenile jail.

The suspect and a 17-year-old boy face murder charges in the July 22 deaths of Robert and Patricia Cogdell in Conway, Arkansas. Police say the pair shot them and dumped their bodies in a nearby wooded area. Both teens were charged as adults.

Police say the 14-year-old admitted the crimes. He allegedly told a relative that the 17-year-old was involved, according to an arrest affidavit.

Police say a 17-year-old girl who was at the Cogdell's house during the incident said something should be done because the grandfather didn't die immediately. The 14-year-old allegedly walked over to his grandfather and shot him.
