Aretha Franklin donating hotel stays, food to Flint residents
Aretha Franklin is helping Flint residents during the city's water crisis.
The Queen of Soul is arranging to provide nightly rooms for 25 to 50 people at a hotel along with food and beverage, reports WDIV.
Flint residents will be pre-screened for the opportunity at her late father's church, New Bethel Baptist Church, in Detroit.
"Detroiters usually come to the aid of Detroiters -- and Flint is certainly regarded as Detroit," Franklin said to the station. "Hang in there."
Franklin grew up in Detroit. She was recently spotted at the Kennedy Center Honorssinging a show-stopping rendition of "A Natural Woman."
Sean "Diddy" Combs and Mark Wahlberg are also aiding Flint residents; they are donating 1 million bottles of water.
