Apple loses appeal in patent dispute with Samsung

Samsung Electronics scored a victory on Friday in its long-running patent battle with Apple (APPL).

A U.S. appeals court overturned a $120 million jury verdict against the South Korean smartphone maker, according to media reports.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in Washington, D.C. said Samsung did not infringe Apple's "quick links" patent, Reuters reported.

The court also reportedly ruled that two additional patents covering the iPhone's slide-to-unlock and auto-correct features were invalid, while saying Apple was liable for infringing one of Samsung's patents.

The feud between the companies started in 2011 when Apple accused Samsung of copying the iPhone.

The verdict came as Apple shareholders gathered for the company's annual meeting in Cupertino, California.
