Apple iPhone 6 preorders begin overnight
iPhone fanatics, take note: Apple is accepting online preorders for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus beginning at midnight Pacific time (3 a.m. Eastern) on Friday, Sept. 12, CNET reports.
Wireless carriers AT&T, Verizon, Sprint and T-Mobile will take preorders on their websites beginning at the same time. Major retailers are also accepting preorders on Friday, and Target is offering a trade-in discount for swapping in the iPhone 5. Details of all the options are available on CNET.
Those who don't mind holding onto their old devices a little longer can get their hands on the newest models in Apple retail stores beginning at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 19.
The two latest, largest and thinnest iPhones were introduced to much fanfare on Tuesday at an Apple press event in the company's Cupertino, Calif., hometown. Apple called the release "the biggest advancements in iPhone history."
Aesthetically, the iPhone 6 boasts a 38 percent larger viewing area than the iPhone 5s, with a 4.7-inch Retina HD display that features a higher contrast and more accurate colors at wider viewing angles.
The iPhone 6 Plus has an even bigger 5.5-inch Retina HD display, with 88 percent larger viewing area than the iPhone 5.
Both phones come in three colors -- silver, gold or space gray -- and feature advanced cameras and the new Apple Pay digital wallet feature.
The iPhone 6 has a suggested retail price of $199 for the 16GB model with a two-year contract. The 64GB model will cost $299 and the 128GB model is $399.
The larger iPhone 6 Plus is priced at $299 for the 16GB model, $399 for 64GB, and $499 for 128GB with a two-year contract.
