Appeal denied for woman who poisoned husband with antifreeze

CLEVELAND, Ohio - An appeal has been denied for an Ohio woman convicted in 2013 of poisoning her fiance with antifreeze, reports CBS affiliate WOIO.

Holly McFeeture is currently serving a sentence of 30 years to life in prison for the 2006 death of her fiance, Matthew Podolak, 31.

During her 2013 trial, prosecutors argued McFeeture poisoned Podolak with antifreeze between July 26, 2006 and July 30, 2006 at their home in Cleveland, ultimately leading to his death on July 31, 2006.

McFeeture wasn't arrested in the case until July 26, 2012, six years after Podolak died.

Her attorneys argued during trial that Podolak drank the antifreeze voluntarily in an effort to commit suicide.

In deciding against an appeal in the case, the Cuyahoga County Appeals Court wrote, "the quilt of evidence that led to the 2013 conviction was sewn together...as the result of time and diligence," reports the station.

McFeeture and Podolak had two children together. Podolak also had a child from a previous relationship, according to the station.
