Watch the first trailer for the Amy Winehouse documentary "Amy"

Amy Winehouse memorial unveiled

The first teaser trailer for "Amy," the upcoming documentary on Amy Winehouse, has emerged.

In the clip, which debuted online Thursday, the late singer speaks passionately about her love of music ("I'm not a girl trying to be a star or anything other than a musician") and fear of fame.

"I don't think I'm going to be at all famous. I don't think I could handle it," a young Winehouse says in an interview.

The British singer-songwriter, who did shoot to fame and won six Grammy Awards but also struggled with drug and alcohol abuse, died of accidental alcohol poisoning in July 2011, at the age of 27.

The documentary comes from director Asif Kapadia ("Senna"). It navigates her life and career and, per The Hollywood Reporter, features previously unseen archive footage and unheard tracks.

"Amy" is scheduled to hit theaters in the U.K. on July 3. It does not yet have a U.S. release date.
