Amy Schumer to star in live-action "Barbie" movie
Amy Schumer might not be the first actress to come to mind for a “Barbie” film, but she’s gearing up to star in one.
The “Trainwreck” star is in negotiations with Sony Pictures to star in a live-action, PG-rated film based on the hugely popular doll, according to Deadline. Schumer and her sister, Kim Caramele, will also do a rewrite on the existing script before production kicks off in the spring.
According to the report, the film will be “a fish-out-of-water story” in which Schumer’s eccentric character gets kicked out of Barbieland and embarks on an adventure in the real world.
“By the time she returns to Barbieland to save it, she has gained the realization that perfection comes on the inside, not the outside, and that the key to happiness is belief in oneself, free of the obligation to adhere to some unattainable standard of perfection.”
The film is expected to be released worldwide in summer 2018.
