AMC sets "Mad Men" marathon ahead of series finale
We're just days away from the final episode of "Mad Men," and to prepare for Don Draper's sendoff AMC is taking fans back to where it all began.
The network is marathoning the entire series, starting with season 1's "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes" (the one about Lucky Strike cigarettes, with Don's "It's toasted" tagline) and continuing through last week's "The Milk and Honey Route," leading right up to the finale episode on Sunday.
The marathon starts Wednesday at 6 p.m. ET, and from there you can relive all the ad pitches, '60s fashions (remember when Peggy Olson had a ponytail, or when she first wore pants?), office drinking and the series' other landmark moments.
AMC is also celebrating the show's end by dimming all its sister networks (BBC America, IFC, Sundance TV and WE) when the "Mad Men" finale airs. Instead of showing programming, they'll air a "special message" commemorating the series.
"Turning AMC over to 'Mad Men' and airing every episode of every season as a lead-in to the finale on Sunday seems a fitting way to continue celebrating what this series has meant to the fans, to television and to our network," AMC President Charlie Collier said in a statement. "We are also enormously appreciative of our sister networks who are paying tribute to this remarkable program that has had such an impact on our entire company."
The "Mad Men" series finale airs Sunday at 10 p.m. ET.
