Police: Four New York children found safe after being abducted

MONTICELLO, N.Y. -- An Amber alert that was issued Wednesday evening -- after police say four young children were abducted from a Sullivan County home by a couple -- has been canceled, reports CBS New York.

New York State police said the children were found safe on Thursday. No other details were provided, according to the station.

Police activated the alert late Wednesday night after the four children -- two girls and two boys, ranging in age from 6 months to 5 years -- were abducted around 6 p.m. from a home in Monticello, located southeast of Albany.

The children were taken by 27-year-old Tina Esquilin and 30-year-old Alfred Franklin Jr, authorities said.

Officials said the couple had a violent history and that a court had ordered the children removed from their custody because of neglect and suspected drug activity, reported CBS New York.
