Cops: Murder suspect on the loose after escaping cuffs

NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- North Las Vegas police say a homicide suspect who’s considered armed and dangerous is on the loose after breaking out of handcuffs and escaping a police station.

According to police, 25-year-old Alonso Perez was in an interview room shortly after his Friday arrest.

They say he turned the handcuffs until he broke free while a detective was out of the room.

He then allegedly stole a truck and fled.

The vehicle Perez was accused of stealing, a Ford F-150 pickup truck, was found Saturday and returned to its owner, police said. Perez, however, remains on the loose. He is suspected in the deadly Aug. 27 shooting of 31-year-old Mohammed Robinson.

Perez is described as Hispanic, 6-foot-3 and having a goatee. He also has an “Air Jordan” tattoo on his neck, under his left ear.

Police say he is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call 702-633-9111.
