Alibaba founder Jack Ma and his eccentricities

This week on 60 Minutes, Lara Logan reports on Alibaba founder Jack Ma, who recently made history when his Internet shopping company went public on the New York Stock Exchange.

Producer Howard Rosenberg tells 60 Minutes Overtime that Ma spent more time with 60 Minutes than with any other journalists. Eight hours of interview to be exact, says Logan.

During that period, the 60 Minutes teams discovered Ma's quirkier side, which includes dressing up like a punk rock star while serenading thousands of his employees on stage.

"Jack Ma is pretty unique and pretty quirky by American standards," Logan tells 60 Minutes Overtime.

Ma also does some card tricks for the team, showing off his sleight of hand. But all of that pales in comparison to the mass weddings Ma presides over at Alibaba headquarters.

"At first, when I heard about the mass weddings, I thought, 'Well, that sounds a bit cultish,'" Rosenberg says.

Ma tells Logan that this year alone he has married between 600 and 700 couples that work for him.

When Logan presses Ma on the unusual practice, telling him that most CEOs in the U.S. don't preside over their employees' weddings, Ma says: "They should learn and they should make their employees happy."
