Affidavit: Conn. school stabbing suspect said "I did it"

MILFORD, Conn. - A court filing says the suspect in the fatal stabbing of a Connecticut high school student in the hours before the school's junior prom told a police officer after the attack: "I did it. Just arrest me."

The suspect, 16-year-old Christopher Plaskon, was arraigned as an adult on murder charges Tuesday at a medical facility. He had been charged previously as a juvenile offender.

A police affidavit says Plaskon confessed to the officer in last Friday's slaying of 16-year-old Maren Sanchez. It says a witness saw Plaskon on top of Sanchez during the attack and unsuccessfully tried to pull him away from her. Another witness, according to the affidavit, saw Plaskon discard a bloody knife after the attack.

Plaskon's attorneys say he has been hospitalized under psychiatric evaluation.

He is to be transferred to the custody of the Correction Department with bond set at $3 million and is to appear in adult court Friday.

The attack took place in a hallway of Milford's Jonathan Law High School on Friday morning. Police are looking into whether Plaskon killed Sanchez because Sanchez turned him down for the prom. The junior prom was supposed to take place Friday night, but was postponed.

Plaskon's family released a statement Tuesday saying they join the community in mourning the loss of Sanchez as they struggle to understand what happened.
