Actress Sutton Foster talks "Younger," "Gilmore Girls" rumors

Sutton Foster goes from Broadway to TV show "Younger"

Two-time Tony winner Sutton Foster now stars in the hit TV show, "Younger." She plays Liza, a 40-year-old divorced mother who pretends to be 26 after struggling to get back into the workforce. The lie creates a double-life for Liza, as she struggles to keep her secret from everyone in her new life, except her younger love interest, Josh.

"The thing that I love the most about 'Younger' is that it's women supporting women," Foster said Monday on "CBS This Morning." "It's not about women throwing women under the bus, or like trying to get ahead that way. It really is about women bonding together and being like, 'I got your back, and I'm going to take care of you.'"

"CBS This Morning" co-host Gayle King described the show as "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" meets "Sex and the City."

"That's a great way to describe it. Yeah, it really is," Foster responded. "It's like a wide-eyed New York tale. And it's a fantasy. And we all get a chance to -- it's never too late to start over and reinvent yourself."

Upon turning 40, however, Foster, who debuted on Broadway as a 21-year-old, said she didn't have a desire to return to her 20s.

"I feel like my life is better now than it's ever been. I feel like I'm like a good wine. I'm marinating well, and I'm only getting better with age. And I like that I have -- there's an ease about my life now and a contentedness that I didn't have when I was in my 20s," Foster described.

Foster divulged that she recently finished filming for a role in the Netflix revival of "Gilmore Girls."

"It was amazing. 'Gilmore Girls' is my favorite show of all time, and so I got to spend four days in Stars Hollow. It was pretty awesome," she said.

The season finale of "Younger" airs this Wednesday, March 23, 10 p.m. ET/9 p.m. CT on TV Land.
