​Actress Misty Upham found dead after going missing

Actress Misty Upham has been found dead after being reported missing by her family on Oct. 6.

Family spokesperson Tracy Rector confirmed her death to CBS News, noting that the search team of family and friends, organized by her uncle Robert Upham, found the actress Thursday at 1 p.m.

"It is with a very heavy heart this evening to report that we have found Misty Upham's body," read a statement released by Longhouse Media. "It was the efforts of her family, friends and the Native community that made it possible for her to be located. Prayers for Misty and her family at this time."

Police in the Seattle suburb of Auburn said Thursday that they believed to have found the body of Upham, known for her roles in "August: Osage County," "Frozen River" and "Django Unchained."

A woman's body was found in a ravine near the White River around 1 p.m. Thursday, police spokesman Steve Stocker said. Items with Upham's name on them were found nearby. Stocker said Thursday evening that the body had been turned over to a medical examiner to confirm the identification and determine the cause of death.

On Thursday Stocker said, "At this point we do not have any evidence or information to believe there is foul play."

A family friend found the body while a group of friends and family were searching in the area.

Rector, who's a longtime friend of Upham's and executive director of Longhouse Media, told CBS News that family members are "very upset that the Auburn Police did nothing to actively search for or find Misty."

The 32-year-old Native American actress was reported missing by her family on Oct. 6, a day after they told police she was suicidal.

Misty Upham's father, Charles Upham, told KIRO-FM his daughter was upset and erratic and had stopped taking medication for anxiety and bipolar disorder.

The family said Upham had moved to the Seattle area to help care for her father, who's recovering from a stroke. She had been staying on the Muckleshoot reservation.
