5 Ole Miss students charged with beating fellow student

OXFORD, Miss. -- Five University of Mississippi students have been arrested following the Oct. 6 beating of another student.

CBS affiliate WREG reported a university police report showed the beating happened around 4 a.m. at the Sigma Pi fraternity house, where junior accounting major Jeremy Boyle is a member.

Tucker Cole Steill was charged Friday with felony assault in the beating of Boyle. The Oxford Eagle reported Steill, a member of Pi Kappa Alpha, posted $10,000 bail and was released from the Lafayette County jail.

Four other students were charged with misdemeanors. James Declan Basile was charged with simple assault, hazing and larceny. Christian Guy, Kyle Hughes and Austin Rice were each charged with larceny.

The Daily Mississippian reported Boyle suffered a concussion, broken teeth, a ruptured eardrum and a lung contusion. He was treated at an Oxford hospital and released.
