$30K reward for information about D.C.-area "Black Hat" bank robbers

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. - The FBI is offering a reward of $30,000 in connection to the so called "Black Hat Bandits" who are wanted for a series of armed bank robberies in the Washington, D.C. area, reports CBS affiliate WUSA.

Police said the Black Hat Bandits are believed to be responsible for a series of robberies in Virginia and Maryland between January 2 and February 18, 2015.

The station reports that the Black Hat Bandits have threatened bank customers and tellers, held guns to customers' heads and jumped teller counters in attempts to gain access to bank vaults. They have reportedly been described as carrying handguns, and wearing winter coats, sunglasses and black hats. They have also worn facial disguises such as ski masks or fake beards.

The FBI is offering a reward of up to $30,000 for information that leads to identification, arrest and conviction of these bank robbers, who authorities say should be considered armed and dangerous.
