3 young adults found dead in house near college campus in N.Y.

GENESEO, N.Y. -- Authorities are investigating the deaths of two college students and a former student at a house blocks from the SUNY Geneseo campus, about 35 miles south of Rochester.

The bodies were discovered after Geneseo police responded to the home around 6 a.m. Sunday following a 911 call from a family member of one of the victims, reports CBS Rochester affiliate WROC-TV.

They were identified as 21-year-old Kelsey Annese, of Webster, 24-year-old Matthew Hutchinson, of Vancouver, British Columbia, and 24-year-old Colin Kingston, of Geneseo.

Police said Annese and Hutchinson were students at Geneseo. They said Kingston was a former student.

Police said no firearm was used, but a knife was recovered. Police said they believe the perpetrator was one of the victims, but it was too soon to say which one.

"At this time, it's too early in our investigation to label this a murder-suicide," Geneseo Police Public Information Officer Jeffrey Szczesniak told The Buffalo News.

The newspaper says the 911 call was from "a worried father who said his son told him he had killed his girlfriend and was going to kill himself."

Police released audio of the call.

WROC says Kelsey Annese was a senior at SUNY (State University of New York) Geneseo. She was on the basketball team. The crime scene was her residence.

Annese played last night at Buffalo State. Geneseo won 63-52. She had 5 points.

WROC reports that Annese was an education and Spanish major and a psychology minor.

Matthew Hutchinson was a senior from North Vancouver, British Columbia, and a member of the hockey team. He played last night at home against Franklin Pierce. He had one assist. Geneseo won 6-2.

Hutchinson was a geography major and business studies minor. He was also a member of the Geneseo volunteer fire department, WROC says.

Colin Kingston lived in Geneseo. He was not registered for the spring semester but had previously attended the college, WROC reports.

The school said that it was working with authorities.

A news conference is scheduled for Monday afternoon.
