Democrats count on young voters in Colorado

In Colorado, older voters who tend to vote more for Republicans are turning out and Democrats think the first-ever all mail-in ballot may have encouraged them. (Some Democrats had originally thought the mail-in only ballots would help their turn-out efforts). So Democrats are now putting all of their hopes on younger voters, who traditionally don't turn out in midterm election years. One operative said Democrats need as much as 500,000 votes to come in today. A tall order. They're passing around stories about long lines in strongholds of Boulder and Denver, though. "Today seems like a mad rush of younger voters," said one Democratic strategist in the state. "But that's all anecdotal." Another Democrat in the state sent this along: "Long lines on college campuses." They'll have to be satisfied with good stories until they can get actual numbers.
