2 charged in Phila. carjacking crash that killed 3 kids

PHILADELPHIA - Two men have been charged in connection with the carjacking hit-and-run crash that killed three children in Philadelphia, reports CBS Philly.

Johnathan Rosa, 19, and Cornelius Crawford, 22, are each charged with three counts of second-degree murder, conspiracy, robbery, theft, kidnapping and carjacking, as well as involuntary defiant sexual intercourse, sexual assault and aggravated assault, according to the station. They face life in prison if convicted.

Rosa reportedly surrendered to authorities Sunday with his mother and his pastor at his side. Crawford was arrested Sunday night in North Philadelphia.

"It was a great collaboration between the police and the community and that ultimately led to this arrest," said Philadelphia Police Captain James Clark.

A search for the two suspects began Friday morning after three children, 15-year-old Keiearra Williams, 10-year-old Thomas Reed and 7-year-old Terrence Moore, were struck and killed by an out of control, stolen SUV while selling fruit at an intersection in the city's Tioga neighborhood.

The children's mother, 34-year-old Keisha Williams, was injured in the crash. She remained in critical condition Monday at Temple University Hospital, reports the station.

Police say the vehicle had been carjacked at gunpoint just moments earlier when the suspects forced a woman into her SUV and then physically and sexually assaulted her.
