Zahui B. Named ESPNW National Player Of The Week
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Sophomore center Amanda Zahui B. had a huge week to lead the Gopher women's basketball team to a pair of wins. She's now getting national attention for it.
Zahui B. was named the National Player of the Week by espnW on Monday for the second time this season. She totaled 66 points and 56 rebounds as Minnesota got wins over Iowa and Michigan at Williams Arena.
She averaged 33 points, 28 rebounds and 4.5 blocks over the two-game stretch. She also shot better than 92 percent from the free-throw line.
Zahui B. had a record night in the Gophers' win over Iowa. She scored 39 points and grabbed a Big Ten record 29 rebounds with four blocks and two steals. In Saturday's double overtime win over Michigan, she scored 27 points, grabbed 27 rebounds and blocked five shots. She broke her own single-season record with the five blocks and now has 109 on the season.
Minnesota travels to Nebraska Tuesday and Iowa Sunday.
