Charges: Woman Uses Stolen Credit Card From Assisted Living Facility At Wal-Mart
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A Minneapolis woman is facing charges after she admitted to breaking into an assisted living facility, stealing a credit card and using it at Wal-Mart.
According to the criminal complaint, a woman who lived at the Burnsville facility told police she was out to dinner Aug. 10 when she discovered her Visa card, MasterCard and $100 were missing from her purse. She also discovered her card had been used at a Wal-Mart in Brooklyn Center.
Another resident at the facility reported they found someone in their apartment the same day. Officers reviewed surveillance video and saw a woman matching the description given by the theft victim.
Officers also watched surveillance video from Wal-Mart and observed what appeared to be the same woman using the stolen credit card.
Hennepin County crime analysts believed the suspect was 24-year-old Topez Jean Spinks, who was in custody in Ramsey County from two felony warrants.
In an interview with police, Spinks admitted to being at the assisted living facility, taking the credit card and using it at Wal-Mart. She also said she tried other doors and entered other apartments in the facility.
Spinks faces theft and second degree burglary charges.
