Charges: St. Cloud Woman Supplied Fentanyl In Man's Overdose Death
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 35-year-old woman is facing murder charges in the April drug overdose death of a man in St. Cloud, according to charges filed in Stearns County Court.
Amy Wanda Lauer was charged with third-degree murder in selling, giving or distributing a controlled substance in connection with the incident, which happened April 20.
According to the charges, and adult male identified as R.S.B. died that day at a residence on the 1000 block of 22nd Avenue North. His mother told authorities she saw Lauer at the residence the day before, and R.S.B told his mother she provided several Fentanyl patches to him. He was seen chewing on one of the patches and an autopsy later showed died of a Fentanyl overdose.
Lauer later admitted to authorities that she provided the patches to him on April 19. In a search of Lauer's phone, authorities located several conversations with him related to Xanax, Fentanyl, Percocet and other prescription drugs. She admitted to authorities that she provided him controlled substances on a regular basis.
Lauer is in custody in the Stearns county Jail on $300,000 bail or $100,000 with conditions. If convicted, she faces up to 25 years in prison and a $40,000 fine.
