Woman Accused Of Stealing $75K From Parents For Cosmetic Surgery, Drugs
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 54-year-old Lakeland woman is accused of stealing more than $75,000 from her parents in order to fund a tummy tuck, breast lift and her prescription drug addiction.
According to the Dakota County Attorney's Office, Kristen Mary Kruzel was charged Wednesday with three counts of financial exploitation of a vulnerable adult.
Kruzel's sister first informed Inver Grove Heights Police of the alleged theft in late August of last year after she discovered a large sum of money missing from her parents' bank account.
Kruzel was the power of attorney for her parents, whom her sister says are vulnerable adults. Her parents confirmed to police that they did not give Kruzel permission to take the money.
She later admitted the theft to police, and said she took the money to support her drug addiction, as well as to pay for a "breast lift" and a "tummy tuck," according to the criminal complaint.
Kruzel could face prison time and up to $60,000 in fines if convicted on all three counts.
