With Snow On The Ground, DNR Promoting Snowmobile Safety

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Now that there's enough snow to get out on the trails, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources wants to remind everyone about snowmobile safety.

To legally ride a snowmobile in Minnesota, residents born after Dec. 31, 1976, need a valid snowmobile safety certificate. There are two ways to get one.

First, there are local classes taught by volunteers for anyone 11 or older. Or take an online course followed by a hands-on ride and review day with volunteer instructors.

And remember to reduce speed according to riding conditions and never consume alcohol when snowmobiling.

Here is more information on classes.
