Wis. Man Arrested On St. Patrick's Day For 11th DWI
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A western Wisconsin man is facing his 11th DWI charge after being arrested on St. Patrick's Day.
Authorities in Polk County, Wisconsin, say Daniel Hess, 47, was taken into custody last Thursday night. Workers at an auto shop in Frederic, Wisconsin, told investigators that Hess pulled into the business driving fast, parked right in front and seemed to pass out behind the wheel.
Emergency personnel and officers responded. Once Hess was medically cleared, he told authorities he'd been drinking the night before.
According to a criminal complaint, he couldn't make up his mind whether or not he was headed home, going to work or to a friend's house.
"[Hess] stated he had just gotten done with an 11 hour shift, after sleeping 12 hours and had gotten lost on his way home," the complaint states.
A breath test showed Hess had a blood-alcohol content of .123. He was arrested and taken to a hospital, where blood was drawn.
At the hospital, Hess admitted to drinking vodka in his car. He was booked into the Polk County Jail.
Hess faces DWI and open container charges.
He has 10 prior DWI convictions dating back to 1989.
