Will The Adrian Peterson Indictment Affect The Vikings Organization?
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A Twin Cities advertising executive thinks some of the backlash that's happening because of the Adrian Peterson indictment will eventually fade, and won't hurt the Vikings organization.
Doug Spong is president of the Spong agency.
"All of this is a risk you take on when you associate with a brand and sports and entertainment," Spong said.
Radisson pulled its sponsorship with the team Monday.
Also some stores have pulled Peterson merchandise from the shelves.
It's a big issue for the Vikings, considering they have big sponsorship partnerships on the line with their new stadium.
"First of all, Radisson has to do what's good for their brand so I applaud their quick and decisive choice. It doesn't hurt the team, there are enough sponsors and brands to step in and fill the void," he said.
The Vikings reinstated Peterson Monday.
He is expected to practice this week and play Sunday against the Saints.
His first court appearance in Texas is now scheduled for October, at that time he is expected to enter a plea to the charge of reckless or negligent injury to a child.
