Wiggins Pumped For His Wolves Debut
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Think Andrew Wiggins is excited to play his first NBA game?
So does he.
"I think about it every day, you know," Wiggins said. "It's something that I've been looking forward to my whole life, so I think about it every day."
It's been 125 days since Wiggins was drafted -- 67 days since he was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves and 29 days since the start of training camp. Time, he says, he's used to get better.
"I think I've grown a lot, a lot mentally, and knowing where to be on the floor, you know. Where not to be, and just picking my spots," he said.
Wiggins showed a lot of promise in the preseason. It's a positive sign for a player with so much potential. And he says it was good preparation for his debut Wednesday night.
"I feel like it prepares you for it, just in the sense that, you know, you're going through plays, you're getting to to face other people, you know, running your plays, seeing what works, seeing what doesn't work, the pace of the game," Wiggins said. "I think it prepares you. Not fully, obviously, because I haven't played the game before."
But he will Wednesday -- an event he's been looking forward to his whole life, and Wolves fans have been looking forward to, sometimes it feels like, even longer.
"I'm just glad to be playing (laughs)," Wiggins said.
The Wolves face the Grizzlies Wednesday night at 7 p.m. at FedEx Forum in Memphis.
