Weekend Closure Coming For Highway 100 In Brooklyn Center
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Motorists in the Twin Cities should expect delays this weekend as both directions of Highway 100 will be closed in Brooklyn Center for construction.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation said the closure will start at 10 p.m. Friday and the highway should be back open by 5 a.m. Monday for the morning commute. Officials said southbound Highway 100 at Brooklyn Boulevard and northbound Highway 100 between County Road 81 and Brooklyn Boulevard will be closed.
The closures are necessary so that work crews can set the new beams for the Brooklyn Boulevard bridge over Highway 100. Detours will be posted, but drivers should expect delays in the area.
Officials said it's part of a $2.2 million project to increase the lifespan of the bridge, provide better access to pedestrians and improve drainage.
