WCCO Viewers' Choice For MN's Best Rooftop Dining
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- On a beautiful summer day, we all want to be outside.
That might mean grabbing a drink or dinner on a patio or rooftop. So, that got us wondering: Where's the Best Rooftop Dining in Minnesota?
Your votes kept me close to home to check out Stella's Fish Cafe in Minneapolis' Uptown neighborhood.
"We're busy on weekends," said Ted Brown, Stella's manager. "We'll go on quite a wait up here. People will wait an hour or two just to get a table up here. So, yeah, I believe that we are the destination for rooftop in Minnesota."
It's been that way since Stella's took over this space 10 summers ago. That's how they count time here - by the way - by the summer.
"For us, I mean, summer hits and it hits hard," Brown said. "People want to be outside, they want to enjoy it."
And often, they've got a cocktail in hand.
"We're mostly known for our muddled drinks," Brown said. "We do muddled fresh mojitos."
But Stella's is known best for their sea food.
"We have fresh sea food flown in from the coasts, daily," Brown said.
That includes crab, lobster, shrimp, salmon and oysters.
The thing that really sets Stella's apart - though - is the view. You can actually look down and see other rooftops.
And from their skydeck, which is still one level higher, you can get a 360-degree view of the city.
"Up here, on this level, I mean you can see all the way from the skyline and all the way back," Brown said.
It's beautiful under blue skies, but as the day turns to night, it's spectacular.
"The sunsets. Up on this level, I really love the sunsets," Brown said.
Up until last year, when an apartment building went in nearby, you could see the full Minneapolis skyline.
