WCCO Saturday Morning Links & Recap (May 16)

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Congratulations, you made it to the weekend! Celebrate with everything going on around the Twin Cities this weekend. We've got burgers, patios, Grillfest, pubs and much more.

This weekend is the 4th annual Minnesota Monthly Grillfest featuring wine, beer, live music and of course, grilling food at the new home of the St. Paul Saints: CHS Field! Tickets are still available on the Grillfest website.

At the Ordway this weekend, you can catch the classic musical Camelot. Mike and Natalie showed you a behind-the-scenes look at the show, but you can check out the full production for yourself: tickets are available on the Ordway's website.

If you feel like hearing some more uplifting music instead, don't miss the 20th annual Art-A-Whirl Saturday in northeast Minneapolis. We featured the Retribution Gospel Choir on the show, who'll be playing outdoors tonight at 8pm at the 331 Club, but there are more than 50 other locations for the huge event, mixing the art and music worlds -- all for free! A full list of participating galleries, businesses, homes and restaurants is available on the Art-A-Whirl website.

For DeRusha Eats this week, Jason headed over to the Black Forest Inn, which just celebrated its 50th anniversary. The German-style pub sat on Nicollet and 26th Street long before the area earned the nickname, "Eat Street," and Jason found out how the establishment has remained a staple of the changing neighborhood for so long.

You voted for the best happy hour in Minnesota, and the winner was right next door to WCCO! Brit's Pub is known for its wide selection of beers from the United Kingdom, and it's huge, beautiful rooftop patio, complete with lawn games. WCCO employees are no strangers to Brit's!

Those patios are going to be quite popular over the next few months, and that's why Mike Augustyniak will be mostly focusing on patios on Mike's Mix this summer. That started today when Mike went to the Union Rooftop in downtown Minneapolis. Don't miss their bottomless mimosas at Sunday brunch!

Now that summer is here (at least in spirit), a lot of Minnesotans are busting out their barbecues and throwing their own specialty burgers on the grills. But in Northeast Minneapolis this weekend, 20 local establishments and up to 2,000 burger lovers are deciding who has the best burger of all in this year's Twin Cities Burger Battle. The action starts Saturday night at 5:00 p.m., rain or shine, and tickets are still available!

Thursday is the 3rd annual GiveOUT Day -- a national day of fundraising for organizations that support the LGBT community -- and our own Mike Augustyniak is participating! Head to his donation page if you'd like to help him support the Greater Twin Cities United Way.
