WCCO Saturday Morning Links & Recap (July 25)
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- It is the last weekend in July, so go make the most of it -- with WCCO's help, of course!
Saturday night at Elko Speedway is the Eve of Destruction! There will be dueling monster trucks, school bus racing, bull rides and a petting zoo for kids.
If you are in the mood for something a little less jarring, head over to the second-annual Lowertown Blues Festival in St. Paul. This year features an exciting lineup of blues musicians for the day of free music. More food, vendors and music will be part of the show this year.
Looking to mosey down the trail? Well, WCCO's Natalie Nyhus went to Zumbro Bottoms Horse Camp in Kellogg – which has more than 1,000 miles of trails! Our viewers and readers voted it as the Best Horse Trail in Minnesota!
An event known for celebrating the creativity and talents of Twin Cities' artists, comedians, models and musicians is going to the dogs. "I Am Rescued" is a city-wide pet adoption day, bringing local animal rescues together to find "forever homes" for doggies. The event is happening from 10 p.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at High Bridge Dog Park in St. Paul.
The Art-Cars Plus Art-Bikes Parade is not your typical car show. You will see all sorts of crazy designs, paint jobs, jewels -- even a giant lipstick tube on some of the vehicles. The parade goes around Lake Harriet in Minneapolis beginning at 6 p.m. Saturday night. And it is free to get in!
Ask anyone and they have probably heard the term Tex-Mex. But how about Arizona-Mex? A new Minneapolis neighborhood restaurant is inspired by the flavors of Tucson, but you may be inspired by its owner. Jason DeRusha Eats at Saguaro on 53rd and South Lyndale in Minneapolis -- and you should too!
Thirsty? Then celebrate cocktails at the Minnesota Monthly Fine Sprits Classic on Thursday, July 30 at the Minneapolis Event Centers. And go here and enter code "WCCO" at checkout to receive $5 off admission!
Food blogger Cathy Wiechert dropped by the WCCO Rooftop to grill up some goodness for National Grilling Month!
And the 2015 Minneapolis Aquatennial will end with a bang Saturday night! There will be an incredible fireworks show on the downtown Minneapolis riverfront.
Now go have an action-packed weekend!
