WCCO Saturday Morning Links & Recap (April 25)
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- This week on WCCO Saturday Morning, it's all about sports, burgers and robots. There are all sorts of things going on around the Twin Cities this weekend, and we've got everything you need to know in one place.
You voted for it, and we got to eat it! Natalie Nyhus visits your top choice for the best burger in Minnesota: King's Place in Miesville... and we had so many choices! They're famous for serving a whopping 70 different burgers.
Natalie wasn't the only on who got to eat a beautiful, greasy burger. In this week's edition of DeRusha Eats, Jason went to Smashburger -- a national restaurant group that Forbes called "one of the most promising companies in America." The best part: they now have a Minnesota location!
Some engineering students were duking it out at the Mall of America this morning, and we saw it all go down. They weren't fighting each other, of course, but the Midwest Robotics League Regional Competition pits robots against robots to see who comes out the victor -- all designed by students. It's going on tomorrow, too, and you can find more information on the Mall's website.
Mike and Natalie also stopped by the state fairgrounds to check out the Minnesota Horse Expo and get in touch with their inner cowboy and cowgirl.
With most Minnesota sports fans talking about the Wild in the playoffs and the start of baseball season with the Twins, you may not have heard much about the Minnesota Swarm -- our state's pro lacrosse team. If you've never been to a game before and want to check it out, head to their website for tickets, gear and more!
It's a big weekend for the Minnesota United, too! Their home opener is today, and they're taking on the San Antonio Scorpions. Head out and cheer for the team that's soon to be part of the MLS! Tickets are still available on the Minnesota United website.
On this week's edition of Mike's Mix, Mike prepares for the 141st Kentucky Derby by trying out the event's traditional drink -- the mint julep. At Dixie's on Grand Avenue in St. Paul, they've got a special Kentucky edition that's perfect for the occasion.
At the U this afternoon, students are celebrating the season with this year's Spring Jam. They've got food trucks, free games and rides, plus some great new music from Betty Who, Lizzo and more. For more information, including how to get tickets, check out the Spring Jam website.
