Was A Semi Involved In The Crash That Killed Two Teen Brothers?
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- There was not a dry eye inside Park Christian School in Moorhead Tuesday night.
Hundreds packed the gym to remember two young lives that were cut short.
"I will be emotional with you and I have no problem doing that," Vice Principal Michael Levang said.
Brothers Connor and Zach Kvalvog were star athletes at the school.
"To watch Connor and Zach on the basketball court, I only had one year to do it, but those two were the most competitive brothers you'll ever see go at it," a classmate said.
The two boys were on their way to a basketball tournament with two teammates near the Wisconsin Dells Tuesday when the accident happened.
"It's just such a tragic story for this family," Minnesota State Patrol Lt. Tiffani Nielson said.
The state patrol thinks Zach, who was driving, veered their pickup truck into the shoulder on the highway but then overcorrected. That is when the truck rolled, killing Connor and Zach.
Two other teenage passengers survived the crash. One of them told the state patrol Wednesday a semi was driving very close to their truck before the crash.
"It was not a hit and run, there wasn't contact, but we believe that there was a semi in very close proximity to this Dodge, which lost control," Nielson said.
The state patrol is asking for the public's help in finding the driver of the semi. It is too early to determine if the driver would face any charges.
"It's a very sad situation and we want to try to answer those questions for the family," Nielson said.
They are answers that can never replace what was lost.
The two other teenagers that survived the crash are in the hospital with serious injuries.
The semi the state patrol is looking for has a white box trailer and either a red or green tractor.
