Violent Task Force Searches Home, Finds Nearly 100 Pot Plants

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Officials in central Minnesota say a violent task force found 95 marijuana plants Tuesday in a St. Cloud home, along with more than $5,000 in cash.

The Stearns County Sheriff's Office said that the Central Minnesota Violent Task Force found the plants while executing a search warrant on the 25000 block of 58th Avenue.

Task force investigators had gone to the address to speak with 36-year-old Daniel Lommel about a citation. When they did, the investigators noticed the smell of marijuana and could see signs of marijuana in plain view.

Investigators then got a search warrant and went through the house, the sheriff's office said. They found the 95 plants, $5,700 in cash and a loaded shotgun.

The task force did not formally arrest Lommel, but he is expected to be charged with fifth-degree controlled substance violations, the sheriff's office said. The $5,700 in cash is subject to forfeiture.
