Vikings Walsh To Visit First Graders Who Sent Him Sympathy Cards

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The angst over the Minnesota Vikings' playoff loss Sunday was compounded in the fashion which they lost -- a missed "chip shot" field goal by Blair Walsh.

But from the moment he failed on the field, Walsh has succeeded in so many ways.

He answered every question from the media right after the brutal loss and also the day after.

And Walsh will make a special visit Thursday morning to the first grade students at Northpoint Elementary School to meet firsthand with the kids who wrote some touching personal letters to Walsh earlier this week.

The letters of encouragement have also resonated with national media, garnering a lot of attention.

A miss like that on Sunday has cost other kickers their jobs, but Walsh has sent a strong message that it is important to always believe in yourself.

It is a message he will tell those first graders all about Thursday.
