Vikings, Medtronic Unveil 'The Horn' Outside U.S. Bank Stadium
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The Minnesota Vikings and Medtronic unveiled something new to the landscape outside of U.S. Bank Stadium.
The two local businesses unveiled "The Horn" Wednesday, a contemporary art sculpture that will be on Medtronic Plaza.
"The Horn" features two ribbons, the inside of which are mirrors. Together, the ribbons create a spiral shape similar to a Gjallarhorn.
The piece is expected to be roughly 107 feet long, 25 feet high, 30 feet wide and weigh over 38 tons. It will also be embedded with LED lighting to ensure it remains visible at night.
The sculpture was funded by Medtronic and designed by Alliiance.
It is expected to be completed by August 2016.
