Vikings Honor Worker Killed At Stadium Construction Site

DALLAS, Texas (WCCO) -- The Minnesota Vikings paid tribute Saturday night to a worker who was killed in an accident at the team's new stadium this week.

Officials say construction worker Jeramie Gruber, 35, fell 50 feet while performing roof work on the north side of U.S. Bank Stadium Wednesday morning. His cause of death was listed as head trauma.

During the Vikes' preseason game against the Cowboys in Dallas Saturday night, players bore the initials "J.G." on the back of their helmets in honor of Gruber, and the 35-year-old's photo was shown on TV during the team's first timeout.

Gruber and one other person injured in the incident were employed by a subcontractor, Berwald Roofing of North St. Paul.
