Vikings Among Hundreds Of Volunteers At Mpls. Salvation Army
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – In the spirit of the holiday, hundreds of volunteers are making the day a little brighter for those in need.
About 500 people gathered at the Salvation Army Harbor Light Center in Minneapolis Thursday afternoon for a Thanksgiving meal.
Anyone who showed up was served a traditional dinner of turkey, stuffing and all the trimmings.
While help preparing and serving meals is needed, there are more ways to help this season.
"We have a big need for accessories for winter time, like stocking hats, scarves, mittens, gloves, boots. Those things are in a big need for us right now. Especially larger sizes for men," Major Jeff Strickler, for the Salvation Army said.
Members of the Minnesota Vikings were among Thursday's volunteers.
