Man Dies After Falling Through Ice In Burnsville
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A man died in the hospital Tuesday after falling through the ice at Sunset Pond in Burnsville, according to the Dakota County Sheriff's Office.
On Monday afternoon, the man – who has not been identified -- fell through the ice on the pond, which is located near the intersection of County Road 42 and Burnsville Parkway. Burnsville fire crews responded and were able to remove the man from the water.
He was brought to a hospital, where he died around 5 p.m. Tuesday. His body was brought to a medical examiner's office for an autopsy, officials say.
Chief Deputy Tim Leslie says this incident serves as a reminder that residents should be very careful and should no longer attempt to walk or drive on the ice this spring.
The Dakota County Sheriff's Office is still investigating the incident.
