Victim In Fatal North Mpls. Shooting Identified As Teenager

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Officials say the individual who died this weekend after being shot on Thursday in north Minneapolis was a teenager.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office said 16-year-old Tyrone Rice Jr. died Friday of a gunshot wound to the head.

Authorities said they found Rice in a car near the intersection of 27th and Lyndale avenues north on Thursday. He died a day later at North Memorial Medical Center.

The medical examiner's office said Rice's death was a homicide.

So far, no arrests have been made in connection to the shooting, which remains under investigation.
