UPDATE: US Bank Stadium will not serve as polling place, despite NFL announcement
MINNEAPOLIS -- Despite a weekend announcement from the NFL, elections officials in Minnesota say U.S. Bank Stadium will not serve as a polling place for the November elections.
On Saturday in a tweet that has since been deleted, the league said the Vikings' home stadium would be one of 14 across the country to serve as an election site. Hennepin County elections officials told WCCO on Monday that the stadium will not serve as a polling place.
As part of its NFL Votes campaign, the league said all 30 NFL stadiums "are available to be utilized for election-related activities if needed." The campaign is "a league-wide, nonpartisan initiative that supports and encourages civic engagement among NFL players and Legends, club and league personnel, and fans."
The other stadiums announced as election sites are in Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Glendale, Denver, Indianapolis, Cleveland, Baltimore, Washington D.C., Charlotte, Atlanta, Jacksonville and Miami.
